Infrastructure and precincts

Strategic investments are helping to build some of the largest and most significant research centres, institutes and precincts in the Southern Hemisphere, positioning Queensland as an Australasian centre of excellence for science and technology.

Examples include the Queensland Biosciences Precinct at St Lucia and the Creative Industries Precinct at Kelvin Grove. Work has also commenced on the Ecosciences Precinct at Boggo Road and the Health and Food Sciences Precinct at Coopers Plains.

This critical mass of research and development has major benefits for people the world over, and provides significant new opportunities for the research sector and industry collaborations.

To foster such collaborations, the Queensland Government is planning a number of Smart Communities that will integrate research activities with business, residential and lifestyle centres.

A listing of the major science infrastructure and precincts in Queensland is provided to showcase the State's research and development capabilities and areas of strength.

Infrastructure and precincts by category:

  • Mining and energy
  • Health and medical
